Iss it’s only a theory.

“It’s only a THEORY!” It’s the battle cry of those people so far beyond the Dunning-Kruger that you couldn’t find them with the worlds most powerful teleskope/microscope.

This is a declaration of mental bankruptcy. These people cling to their beliefs as if it were a lifesaver in stormy seas after their boat sank. You cannot educate them on the difference between theory and hypothesis, or more specific, the difference between “theory” in scientific and colloquial use.

Whether it is evolution, germs, gravity or big bang, or something else. Whenever someone says/writes “But it’s only a THEORY!”, presumably with a victorious shit eating grin on their face, you know they have quit the discussion.

You have won.

By default.

Whatever else comes out their mouth, is irrelevant and warrants no attention, let alone debate.

In scientific terms, a theory is factual. Tested extensively.

It is true.

Any theory that doesn’t hold up to rigorous testing, becomes a discarded hypothesis.

It is funny though, you know? Just a century or so ago these people would’ve been the village idiots. Never would they have children, never would they breed and pass on the idiocy. Everyone would’ve laughed at them.

But now, they have internet access, and gather in groups, accumulating their collective anti-knowledge in a celebration of cerebral abstinence. And they breed. And they vote.

Anyway. Just rest comfortably in the knowledge that you have won any argument by default as soon as these words are uttered. (If it is about a scientific theory that is)

People who….

schould be beaten with poles enscribed with facts.

These days the bullshit express ran around Facebook (and other asocial media) with the two dudes standing opposite each other arguing whether the number painted on the floor between them is a ‘6’ or a ‘9’.
fb_img_1475555081327.jpg

Listen here you uber pseudo-tolerant assholes out there, this is completely wrong.
This is the level of erroneous bullshit I’ve come to expect to see from people who need ‘safe spaces’ (despite there being none on the planet, unless you dig an airraid shelter without internet, TV or radio, books or newspapers, then you and your opinions are in a safe space).
There are no other sides to a debate about the “truth”.
Either something is, or it isn’t. (Unless you’re dealing with quantum physics. But that’s another can of worms.)
A friend of mine said that, while you do not have to give validity to the opinions of the other side, you have to give validity to the emotions behind them.
No.
No, I don’t.
Giving validation, for example, to these cretins who believe vaccines cause autism, even in the slightest, is too much. They squeeze their foot through the door and wiggle until they are in. And before you know it they stand in your living room babbling on about something, reeking of rancid coconut oil and herbal mixtures for their hair.

We live in a time and world where opinions and feelings are higher valued than facts, and someone coined the phrase ‘post-factual’. In such a world where I can beat on peoples ears with facts until my mouth dries up and their eardrums bleed, without changing ANYTHING, you honestly expect me to see your (erring) point of view, or the misguided emotions behind it?
No.

“Look sunshine, here’s a 4, a 5 and thus this is a 6, followed by a 7 and an 8, and, oh, look, a 9.
If you go there and argue that it is a 6, I will make you eat the paint.” Facts, people, facts.

I’m done debating feelings and opinions crowds. These window-lickers are immune to facts, why waste my time?
The earth is a globe (more or less), it isn’t hollow, moonlanding was real, 9/11 was a terrorist attack, there are no reptilians, the jewish global conspiracy is non existent, vaccines are safe, healthy, and important, chemtrails do not exist, nor do Morgellons, aliens (if they exist at all) don’t give a crap about earth – or humans in particular, safespaces are bullshit, there are only 2 genders (Genders, are facts. Identities, are feelings. Got that? Good, moving on), HAARP and weather manipulation are BS, mindcontrol does not work, and dihydrogrenmonoxide is H2O also known as water you chemistry-phobic velcro shoe wearing half wits!

I state the facts in an argument, I will not discuss the opinions and emotions. Facts.
If you do not change your mind and keep on being stupid, fuck you.
The point of ridicule has then been reached. And I will make fun of you until I get bored.
Trolling? Maybe.
Adequate reaction of a facts person to a postfactual idiot? Definitely.

Do not defend this garbage. Keep this postfactual crap where it belongs – in pre-school.

Take care

Battlecry of the numbskulls

“Do your own research” or better yet “educate yourself”.

If you hang around in the undepths of the internet; you know, where the gullible people roam; you sooner or later encounter these words.

Chemtrail fetishists, Vaccination fearers, Climate-change deniers, Hollow Earth Hoggers, 9/11 inside jobbers, moonlanding rejecters, and so on.
All say the same thing: “Educate yourself.”

Alright?

I’m not going to combat any of the aforementioned idiot groups, this is not the place, nor do I have the time or the energy (at the moment).
All I’m doing is focusing on their common battlecry.

What is this “educate yourself” phrase telling us?
1. The one shouting this is too dumb/short on arguments/lazy/witless/allofthese to lay out a few arguments to convince the other side of his standpoint.
2. It is assumed that the own standpoint is the only one that might be perceived as true. Anything else is wrong, and has to be recognised as such.
3. Be so afraid of alternatives, so better believe me! The true info is somewhere out there, you could look it up, but better believe me!!!!11onetyone

The battlecry is usually paired with a “wake up” or an accusation of the other side being a sheep, or bought. Which only furthers the “dangerousness” of the topic that should be learned auto didactic.
A question that might arise here is “Why do they fear monger?”
The answer is simple, and bafflingly so: Group building.

There are, basically, three ways to build/form a group:
A.) “Us people, for …” the hardest of the three. You want something, you need to rally support and work towards a goal with others who want the same thing.
B.) “Us people, against …” medium difficulty. There is something you don’t want, you find people who don’t like it either, you rally their support and work against stuff.
C.) “They against us.” easiest of the bunch. No explanation needed, no work involved, no rallying of support. You just say that there is a conspiracy out there and your group starts to form.

Humans are herd animals, and thus tend to congregate into groups, and that’s why we like to form them. In what ever way we can.
If you have no goals, no interests what so ever – you’re still left with your fears. And if you’re also a numbskull, you just flail your arms in panic, and if anyone asks, say: “Wake up, you docile sheep! The Aliens have replaced the politicians with remotecontrolled lizard people in the NewWorldOrder who plant GMOs to mindrape us, while they spray Morgellons, smart dust and mind numbing chemicals on us from commercial airplanes in Chemtrails, and lie to us about the climate, while trying to poison us with vaccines. Hitler had the foresight to flee to the hollow earth and form an Ark there…EDUCATE YOURSELF, if you don’t believe me!!!11one”

Take care, and don’t trust everything you read on the net.
