Lizard People

No not the elusive, shape-shifting creatures some conspiracy nuts blame for the supposed existence of the NWO. I’m talking about us. Humans.

Someone once said that “homophobia” is a misnomer, that it is hatred, not fear, driving these people.

Well, actually, it IS fear.
Embedded in our very essence, buried so deep inside our make up, that it sits in the reptilian part of the brain, is the tribalism part. The one that fears things (and people) that (who) are different.

Different skin color? Fear.

Deformity? Fear.

Homosexuality? Fear.

Other language, religion, culture? Fear.
We are a tribalistic bunch, and we act as such. To borrow a horrible quote of arbitrarily bunched up emotions “fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering”. (I’m not here to discuss semantics this time, because here it fits, oddly enough.)

Homophobia, Xenophobia, and what not else -phobia, IS aptly named. It’s fear fueling the hate, hate driving these people. It’s the lizard at the controls.

But!

It is not restricted to the politically right, it is also the left, the supposed libertarians, guilty of letting the lizard take the controls. Fear of vaccines, fear of science (like GMOs), fear of and hatred for progress/change/diversity in all ways – it is our human nature, our lizard nature.

We do not understand this stuff / these people, which frightens us, thus we hate it/them. Out of fear.

Overcoming this lizard brain thing isn’t easy, but us having achieved what we have achieved this far, I think it is not impossible. We overcame other embedded programming of our animalistic ancestry. Why not this one too?
So. In closing, we must not fear, except fear itself. Let us overcome our lizard, and shut the lizard people out of the control centre.

Tolerance and understanding.

Take care, A.

Scary

Easter came and went, and as such I, unexpectedly, have another trinket for you.

Because if I don’t, my brain will swell until my skull cracks open like an egg, so it can escape the fruitless pondering of “who thought that this was a good idea???”

This coloring book is neat, at first glance:

Googly eyes.
Until you change the page.

UNGODLY NIGHTMARE CREATURE, UNHOLY GHOUL FROM THE FIRE REALM! CALL 911, THE FBI, CIA, NSA, KGB AND CHINA!
Fuck me, this is creepy.

So, as an after thought, again a ghoulish happy Zomb…er…easter.

Take care,

Augmented Reality

The concept of this sounds like the most awesome invention in entertainment, the most innovatve idea in navigation and information ever.

Sounds.
But isn’t.

Plenty of old-schoolers have ripped on “Pokemon Go”. Bashing it with plenty of valid, and not so valid points pf criticism.

I ain’t gonna chime in to the chorus, either loving or hating it – I don’t care for it.
At all.

Of course, some are blaming the game for the things the game can not be faultet for: our unpreparedness for augmented reality games.
•As individuals some lack the common sense and decency not to walk into hospitals – including ICUs, not to hike over graves on cemeteries, not to wander onto construction sites and fall into open holes in the ground, not to walk into oncoming traffic. I can hardly wait for the first morons to slip into nuclear power plants and get irradiated because a pikachu was hiding there.
Is the game to fault for any of this?
Nope. Human idiocy is.
•There are Pokemon in holocaust memorial sites, in hospitals, on graveyards, etc., preemptively the governments of the countries where this game is available should have told Niantic/Nintendo NOT to put shit there. Especially after the far less known and far less popular game Ingress had faced similar criticisms. Did the people in power learn? Nope. Did the game developers – who built on Ingress – learn? Nope. So at least a partial fault can be passed on to the development team.

We as a society were not prepared, our governments were not prepared, the developers were not prepared.
To some extent we still aren’t.
But this is not the fault of the game.
People, societies and governments were not prepared for TV, cellphones, smartphones or the internet. Some still struggle with that shit altogether. (Especially considering the lack of a coherent and transparent copyright law, eh?)

Faulting the game for exposing our own unpreparedness, our inadequacy to adapt to the new situation, is an escape mechanism.

It frightens us, how stupid people “become” when playing this game, it frightens us even more to know that these people were reckless idiots before, and Pokemon was just the catalyst that brought it to daylight.
It frightens us to see that just this easily a company can develop something – something so immaterial as software even – that turns our view of the world on its head, that makes everything different, that shows us our own inadequacies, and limitations.

It is just the same as saying that violent games make people run amok.
They don’t. These days it is relatively easy to obtain a weapon, if you have those tendencies.
If you have the tendency to run amok, you may still have an inkling of common sense preventing you from doing it at the first impulse, and you are drawn in by the violent games. Did the game make the homicidal maniacs? No. But they gravitated towards them.
Did Pokemon Go make the people stupid? No. It acted as a catalyst and exposed the window lickers as what they are.

Verdict: Not guilty.
Let Pokemon Go, go. Leave it be.

Accept that idiots are everywhere, and lament the fact that we did not turn Augmented Reality into the hottest tourist and learning app of all ages. That we did not turn augmented reality into a sky gazing app.
Be sad that you can’t whip out your phone, direct the camera to the weird cloud in the sky and it tells you what sort of cloud it is, what it means weather wise….and so on. What tree is this? What flower am I looking at? etc.
No we turned augmented reality into a game.
Just a game.

Take care,
A.

Tue 22nd March 2016

Again some people blew themselves up in an urban area killing innocent people.
Again it was done by people who did it because they have an infirority complex about their god.
Again.
Just like a few days ago (or was it a week already?) in Turkey.

Again.

Now I’m not particularly sad about people losing their lives, although it is a tragedy and the victims, survivors and relatives have my sympathy.
I’m not in fear or terror that some insecure lunatic with a bomb might blow himself up in my face.
I’m not even all that enraged that all this is still a thing in this day and age – what ever stupid and arbitrary scale of measuring time (a.k.a. caldender) you adhere to – although admittedly I do feel a sizeable amount of anger.

Mostly, I’m just disappointed.

We have discovered/proven fucking gravitational waves just now!
We have unlocked the once indivisble thing (the atom) and discovered that the stuff that makes it up (protons, neutrons and electrons), is made up of even smaller things (quarks, etc.).
We KNOW that evolution is a thing – we can see it on a day to day basis with germs and even pests that develop immunity to our pesticides and antibiotics.
We KNOW that the earth is a sphere (I know it’s a bit bumpy, but a newly minted billard ball has deeper cravices than anything the earth has to offer, so STFU), orbiting the sun, which is in turn oribiting the center of the galaxy, which in turn is but one of hundreds of thousands in the observable universe.
We know the big bang is a thing, and we know almost everything that happened in those first moments after it occured.
We have deciphered our genome, and we KNOW that we share 98.9% of our genes with our closest relative in the animal kingdom – the chimpanzee!
We have technologies that allow us to communicate with people on the other side of the planet as if they were in the room with us. We have devices that fit in our hands that can store more information and perform more calculations than what was necessary to land people on the fucking moon and bring them back a few days later.

And STILL!
STILL people kill each other based on some trivial shit such as skin color or the even more retarded thing to get upset about – INVISIBLE FRIENDS!

If god exists – and you morons keep insisting on that – he or she or it is not proud of any of you (or me). He/she/it is disappointed.
Once you die, none of you fuckers is going to heaven. You’ll go to the pearly gates, where you will be greeted by god, slowly shaking his/her/its head showing the utter disappointment in your conduct in life. (Whether you’re a radical religious nut, xenophobe or nationalist doesn’t matter.)
And off you go. He whisks you off to someplace else. Wherever that may be.

So no.
I am not mad.
I am not sad.
I am disappointed.

Here’s to hope that all these differenfes will be forgotten or overcome soon, and that our shithead politicians, religious leaders and economic leaders will either be burned publicly to make an example, so that we will stop bloodshed over NOTHING, and stop burning coal and oil while we can make electricity out of daylight and wind.
Maybe we can create a clean and sustainable future for ourselves, launch ourselves into space and spread out.
So we will survive the inevitable desaster that WILL one day smash into our planet potentially killing close to everything on the planet.

But that is the delusional hopes of a hopeless romantic and optimist, my realistic side tells me that the random GRB or stray asteroid wipingnus out would be a relief…

Take care,
B.

Stagnation

My wife alerted me to a local spiritual nitwit. I knew of him before – he is a somewhat known character – but he also holds seminars concerning love. He calls himself the “lovecoach”.

Now, bringing love into the world is not a bad thing per se, but the things he advertises to teach are actually a catastrophe in themselves. He promises to teach how to commune with the “Upstairs” – a synonym for the shared higher consciousness of the human kind – and that with these teaching one would get rid of doubt and fear all together. Only confidence and love remaining.

Now. There is where my problem with him start.

I have been around long enough to know that, while love is a prescious and important thing, fear and doubt are the driving forces behind every individual. With out fear we stop. Either we get prayed upon, or we simply stop developing further. Be it technological or spiritual. We simply stop moving forward.
Without doubt we stop being inquistive. We stop asking questions, investigating and we stop learning.

Without fear and without doubt we end in the limbo of stagnation. A crippled mind and soul, berreft of the most important tools to drive on.

IF we as a species would be cursed to exist without fear and doubt we would’Ve been eaten by lions in africa all these millenia ago, or wouldn’t have made it past a fruit and root gathering monkey stage. Hunting would require doubt, doubt that it can be done to kill a mammoth with spears until a few tried, failed, fashioned new weapons, tried again, until they eventually succeeded.
Fire would require doubt (is it safe? Can we better our food?) and fear (I fear cold!). Stay in the savannah, gather roots, fruit and run from the lions.

It’s self procalimed prophets of love and peace like the “Lovecoach” that make desasters happen.

The guide to love is a complicated one, and I certainbly don’t have all the answers, I found love. I’ve never really known my peace, and at times I think I could find it. In that split second at the hight of an orgasm. Or when everything is runing smooth for a while, and I sit in the sun, reading a book, or writing, my belly filled and my needs satisfied, no noise to annoy the living crap out of me, just the blue sky above and a deep connection with the universe from the very base of my heart. Or once my baby boy is born, in a simple smile.
Peace is not far.
Yet elusive.

Just be yourself – that overlapping part of “Who you want to be”, “Who you truly are” and “Who you have to be” – and nest yourself in the world. Don’t run around trying to please everyone, you’ll fail.
Be calm for fuck’s sake! The more agitated you are the more you will be unhappy.

But most important, be afraid. Let doubt fill you to the point where you have to find out. Don’t stop growing, expanding, moving. If you stop, you rot. Mentally.

And avoid the lovecoach! For crying out loud, avoid all these prophets! Whether they say “doom” or “love” – avoid them. There is only one light to guide you, you! No god that has been described by desert people thousands of years ago. Not another person, nor an incarnation of a holy man, not anything others tell you. And most certainly not  a middle aged (~50), overweight, balding man with a wife of 24 (!).

“There is a difference between knowing the path, and going the path.”
