The trip to the park took 4 hours. Back, another 4 hrs. Plus more than 3 hours hiking.

I had managed to snap a few pictures without people in them. Trust me. That’s an accomplishment.

(If you have questions, I’m open to answering them. Try my mastodon: @augur@metalhead.club)

The sea. The beautiful sea.

The (tiny) Dragon of Rovinj. ^^

If any of you ever make it to Croatia, to Istria in particular, try this beer. It’s a bit costly (thanks honey! <3), but worth every Kuna and Lipa.

Never, ever have I tasted a better beer. Every taste, every note and smell that’s supposed to be in it, IS in it: A note of coffe, with a creamy smoothness of cocoa, a hint of lemon. On top of the goodness of a really good dark beer.

Usually when something is supposed to taste like something, I don’t get that taste.

No. I’m not paid for this. An insignificant schmuck like me doesn’t get promotion deals. (Dear Bujska Pivovara, brewers, IF you read this, and want to thank me for this endorsement – I wouldn’t say no a bottle San Servolo tamno or two…)

In case you want to learn more about this beer…

Rovinj in the distance.

The beautiful and lush hotel grounds of Hotel Amarin

Take care, and may you have a vacation as beautiful as ours.

A.

That was the vacation back in mid August.

Behind my little plastic avatar lies lake Ossiach. It was cold, but it wasn’t if you actually rushed/jumped in.

Basically the same view without foreground obstructions at night.

At day.

Mists rising from the lake as the sun rose.

Hye spodermin! /Lamejoke. Intricate spider web.

Visiting Castle Hochosterwitz.

Whistling the Game of Thrones theme…

Drawbridge.

The view!

The view!

Either the boredom got to me, or the sun, or

the wine. I told you that this is a wine country 😉

(And my cellphone can is broken btw.)

hope you liked this as much as I had enjoyed it.

Take care, A.

Battling pt.1

(Wish I could sit there right now…)
As I am battling with severe depression and all it’s crippling consequences, I find myself unable to uphold a vigorous schedule.

So my (depression driven) humour, my spite and bile for the idiocy of the world, will have to pause.
On occasion.
If I can’t finish a Friday post on time that is.

Just to let you folks know in advance, I am not certain if the advent calendar will be finished this year. If I am unable to come up with 24-25 (plus one for NYE) items, there will be a ‘five specials’ programme instead:
Celebrating the last four weeks before Christmas, plus Christmas.
Regardless! There will be no new RoF in December, or January! (Details well follow)

Until such time. Feel free to help a crazy person out of a dark place, by dropping a like, or a comment, from time to time. Ain’t got nothing against freeloaders, but some gratitude would be fine, at least from time to time.

Take care,
A.

Lakes & Sunshine

Again out in nature, I begin to discover that I am behaving totally NON (cliché) nerd-like recently. Always out and about in nature and all…anyways, here’s to you “Wienerberg” 4th August 2013!

Let me just say outright, even though bathing/swimming is forbidden in the largest of the lake there were hundreds of people in the water. Why is swimming forbidden? Officially: because they are fishing grounds. Inofficially: It’s a deathtrap! The whole place was once a site where silt was being “mined” for use as bricks. Later it became a dumping ground. There are vertical shafts 1 by 1 meter which can collapse at ANY time. Suction would drown ANYBODY. There are fences, railroad tracks and lorries down there – enough crap to get stuck in and die.
I’m no friend of natural waters anyways but this is the last place I’ll be going in…
