We are not the onion.

There’s this reputable news site in my country, let’s equate them to the New York Times.

There’s this satire news site in my country, let’s equate them to the Onion.

We live in times where that NYT equivalent dishes out an article over Facebook, and feels the need to add “We are not the onion!” to it.

The first three or four times that had happened, it was funny “Hehe, they need to tell us that this shit ain’t satire, hehe…”.

It is still happening.

At least once a week.

In what perilously insane times have we ended up in, that news outlets (two different news outlets, I must say at this point) feel the need to warn their readers, that the linked to article is in fact NOT satire, but real?!

This isn’t the news outlets fault, they report on the news, they don’t make ‘em, unlike the satire sites. (Although, it must be referenced, that SNL gave fake Palin, for lack of a fake speech, just the real speech that Palin had held, so in essence, satire reported on the news…)

The true fault lies with us, the people. We have allowed the politicians to run amok, we have allowed corporations to dictate policy, we have granted frauds to spread their filth in public, we have permitted disinformation to be presented as fact, and it’s a downhill journey from here on out.

We are not the onion.

That will be the motto of this generation, and our obituary.

Take care,

A.

Advices (part I?)

I am usually not one to browse the advice columns, and even if I per chance glimpse one or two funny things in there, I just quip about it with my wife and my best friend, and then it’s done.

But this time I’ve got to steal a format from Buckley.

Dear anybody but the lunatic,

I recently caught my fiancé and his sister together and broke up with him. I’d always gotten a strange feeling about their closeness, but I didn’t believe it until I saw with my own eyes. To my family and friends, it seems like I woke up one morning and decided not to get married. Everyone is pushing me to work things out with my fiancé. Initially, I wanted to keep what I saw between them and me. If I tell people they have an incestuous relationship, it would probably destroy their lives. I know they’re barely functioning and terrified I will tell people about them. I’m worried I will seem spiteful if I tell even a few trusted loved ones the real reason I called off the wedding. At the same time, I’m heartbroken too and don’t know how much longer I can handle lectures about “letting a good man get away.” Should I stay quiet or speak up?

Signed, let’s call her Lonesome in Lannisport.

(Note: The original advice columnist suggested at the end to tell people that the fiance was unfaithful and to leave it at that, as it contained enough truth.)

Dear Lonesome,

call me an evil maniac or a vengeful shitlord, but I’d say that you should tell them.
Tell your friends, your family, their family, the local newspaper, church congregation, everyone.

If I got cheated on in preparation to our weeding, I’d make both their lives living hell. Siblings in an incestuous relationship, makes that only that much easier, as no one in their right mind would defend their behavior. You know, there is always some friends, relatives, counselors, or someone who side(s) with the cheater, rather than the cheated. Making up excuses. Trying to get you, the cheated, to see things from their, the cheaters, point of view. Not here.
We have a Jamie and Cersei situation here, and this ain’t Game of Thrones. Don’t be worried that it’ll ruin their lives if you tell. THEY should’ve thought about that before doing the dance with no pants together, and brought that all upon themselves. You on the other hand will get support from your community (friends, relatives, bla bla bla) instead of pressure, and they get what they deserve.

So please, tell them the whole truth, before a Geoffrey gets conceived.

Take care,

A.

NEWS: Friday 15th Jan 2016 (incl. RoF)

I have struggled to write a new post for today.

Several reasons as to why, coincidentally, today’s the 15th. So it’s already covered by the birthday post. Then again, I don’t want the birthday posts to interfere with the normal operations on this blog. Added Bonus, FTW.

Another reason was that I have a lot of stuff going on ATM. And the last reason is, that I feel the need to justify myself. At least a little bit.

You see, there was a lot of stuff going in the last few months – in the world, I mean. You might have heard of these things going down.

Terrorist attacks, lunatic people, refugee crisis, sexual herassment and mass groping (up to mass rape).
I have remained silent on my blog. Invoking the appearance as if these posts had been made in advance.

Which is true.

The other thing is, I don’t want the tragedies of the real world derail me. Yes, it’s an ego thing. Partially.

I am an easily enraged person, a (little) choleric.
So whenever saomething injust happens I get angry. And as many of you may or may not know, if you write shit in an angry mood, it’s just that. Shit.

If I try to tone down my rage fueled hatred, it ends up being empty. If I let the hate flow through me, the texts seem like tempertantrums thrown by Kylo ren as he trashes a room. (yes, I’ve seen the movie! It was AWESOME!)

In addition: I refuse to let Terror win.
Terrorists do shit, we grind to a halt and write about it. Our empathy, our outrage, our hatred.
Derailing our plans, our ideas, and changing our world.
They win. We lose.
Unless they shoot me down, I will go on as before. That way, we win.

Anyway.

This is the reason why I am not going to comment on all this crap that is going on in the world. Terrorist attacks, refugee crisis, (armed?) militias  forming in my country (that has happened only once in history before, and shortly after we got annexed by Hitler Germany…go think about that for a moment or two!), sexual assaults on new years eve, “arm length distance” reactions to that by the mayor of that city…no. I will not comment on it.
Maybe later.
Probably never.

Again, they win. We lose.

That is also the reason why I hadn’t commented on Lemmy’s death, or David Bowie’s death, and why I won’t comment on Alan Rickman’s death.

Regarding Rings of Fate: I still need to tweak a few things here and there, get the (one) graphic right, and decide on a proper schedule. I hope to have it up and available by end of the month, but no promises….BTW: My connection to Facebook somehow won’t function properly… O.o

Until next time, stay safe, take care,
A.

Random Commentary 12 June 15

I am deeply disturbed by and concerned over the fact, that I have arrived at a point in my life, where I am not enraged or surprised by, the news of a government (on planet earth) in the year 2015 (46 years after the moonlanding), convicting and imprisoning tourists for getting naked on a so called ‘sacred’ mountain, blaming said tourists to have thus caused a deadly and devastating earthquake.

I am not surprised.
I am not enraged.

Why not surprised?
Have you seen the world today?
There are people fighting to live in the desert their god has allocated them.
Tell you what, your god is an asshole, you should convert, or better yet become an atheist.
There are people denying shit that is IN FRONT OF THEM (global warming, evolution, vaccines, science in general) because it is not matching their scripture, or hippie faith.
So why on earth would it surprise me that a government is this backwards that it believes (or claims to) that a group of naked tourists causes earthquakes?

Why not enraged?
The nudists had a guide for the terrain who objected, because the mountain was considered ‘sacred’ by the natives.
So they KNEW that the spot they got naked and posed for a picture was considered sacred. Would they have posed nude on a cemetery? No.
Would they have gone full monty in a church, or a mosque, or a synagogue? Nope.
Why? Because many of them would’ve found that to be ‘indecent’. And they would (according to laws most everywhere) go to jail for indecency in a public space.
In essence, had they behaved the way they did there, some other ‘sacred’ site in a less lunatic country – still jailtime (or a fine). Much less, than in cuckoo land, but still.

Let us get this over with: a country’s government, obviously so retarded and backwards that Neandertals would look down on them, is over-punishing a group of people, who just pissed on another peoples faith and culture, blaming them for a natural desaster that would even have come to pass if the mountain in question was deserted except for a group of shamans.

Who is genuinely surprised?
Who is genuinely enraged?

Let me end today with a question: Suppose a group of tourists had gotten naked for a photo at the wailing wall, and Israel swooped down on their arses like a bag of hammers, would all those who cry foul-play now, cry the same tune then, or judge those ‘monsters’ for showing disrespect?
Exactly.

PS:
Just an FYI, I would not get naked anywhere even remotely public. I don’t have the physique for that. Even if I had, I am not that kind of person, I don’t even own any shorts (besides my swimming gear).
Do I find naked people (for what purpose ever) in a church, on a graveyard, in a sacred cave or on top a holy mountain offensive? NOPE!
On the contrary, frak religion.
Bring our good old traditions up to date, cultures are not a rigid unmoving thing. They need to evolve, to change, or else they die.
Nudity is not disrespectful.
If your theologians, or, worse, your politicians say, nudity (or kissing, or pre-marital sex) is a sin, question their sexuality, not the morality of naked (kissing, fracking) people. And then work against these theologians or politicians. As a collective, as a people.
Same with science. Or food.
Spirituality is neat, it’s a comforting thing. But do not let it interfere with LIFE.

Hilarious Tragedy

image

This little goldnugget of journalism reads “On Tuesday in Vienna a man (66) supposedly shot himself dead, and then shot his wife.”
Now either the journalist who wrote this was rather confused, or and here come the funny part of the tragedy, it happened like this:

The couple was lying in bed, she was asleep, he took out a gun from the  nightstand, pointed it at his abdomen and pulled the trigger. That doesn’t kill you right away, causing you to have a agonising relatively slow death.
Woken from the gunshot his wife jolts up, he shoots her dead and then bleeds to death.

I know it is a tragedy, and the family/friends of the couple deserve all the condolences and best wishes in the world, but this clipping, is funny as hell…
