Consumer protection done (almost) right…

As reaction to:
https://futurism.com/missouris-meat-law/

Missouri passed a law that prohibits the use of the term “meat” for anything that didn’t come from an animal.

Which is great!

If it isn’t meat, don’t call it meat!

If it is plums, you wouldn’t call it apples, now would you?
(Side rant: Why are these fucking cretins in the vegan crowd bitching and moaning about Trumps ‘Alternative Facts’, whilst living with alternative facts of their own? I don’t get it!)

It is that simple. idgf what you call it, but it is false labeling, more accurately, consumer fraud if you call Not-meat, meat.

It is this entire false labeling crap that must end:
It is soy juice, almond drink, grain water. Be honest.

It is NOT milk, nor is that other shit meat. Not even a convincing approximation.

You’re vegan? Good. Own that shit, and be honest about it to everyone, including yourself. Don’t pretend to be eating meat, if it is just crushed almonds, textured and colored in a way, that is a vague approximation.

Wash your almond-slab down with some Soy-juice.

But, as always, there is a catch, this decision also stinks of antiscienceism:
Labmeat IS meat.

May not have been alive recently (at least in the traditional terms) but it IS meat. Fear of GMOs and science in general is stinking through this otherwise intelligent decision.

Still.

A win for common sense.

A victory against consumer fraud.

Take care,

A.

PS: in my country there had been a huge scandal a few years back about “analogue cheese”, everyone and their aunt were up in arms over this. Today, they sell the same shit as Vegan cheese. It is NOT cheese, be honest.

Symbol of hope?

First off, so you know where I come from:
I am socially incompetent.
I am bad with people.

Talking, especially outside groups of flamboyant extroverts and lunatic introverts, is not my thing.
Even online.

Talking about my minor accomplishments is not my thing. Praising my own work as if it’s the next best thing to sliced bread (or the great pyramids, since sliced bread is mundane shit), not my cup of tea.
Small talk about absolutely mundane crap without consequence to me, others, or the world, is beyond my abilities, beyond my understanding.

So, this morning, just like last week a few times, I see the symbol of hope pop up on my Tablet’s task bar:
The all familiar WordPress ‘W’.

A like?
A new follower?
(With dread in my mind) A comment?

No.
“Your scheduled post has been published! Spread the word!” Frak you!

I made the connections to my social media outlets so I wont have to spread the word about my posts myself.
That’s your job now.
Because I can’t praise my stuff, because I can’t do people stuff.
This made me anxious.
No like, no follower, not even a comment.
Just this crap that would send me out doing the social stuff, that I can’t do and outsourced to automated bots.

Where’s my “Triggor worning!!”?

Speaking of senseless trigger shit. Or stuff that the special snowflakes should (and surely are already) cry about having a trigger warning.
Facebook memories.

Oh yeah sure, another Fecesbook rant, how original…

Let me elaborate a bit, a dear friend of mine died. FB-Memories drudged up a post said friend commented on. Made me feel a bit blue that this friend will never again comment on something I post.
Trigger warning?

I’m the last person calling for trigger warnings, I hate that shit. Life does not come with trigger warnings.
Suppose your dad hanged himself on an Oak tree? Do you expect/demand trigger warnings at each oak tree? Of course not.
That’d be lunacy.
So why should anything else contain that shit then?
It shouldn’t.
Period.

On that note, trigger warning, this post ends now,
Take care, A.

Dolphins and People – a rant.

As a writer – especially in my preferred field of fantasy and science fiction – it is my ‘obligation’ (sort of) to take the human condition, and mirror it.

Reflect the ugly human visage back to the reader, make them think and change their way of thinking.

I find it difficult, nigh impossible, to do so these times, when one newsstory about a dead dolphin baby says everything and anything there is to say about the current, psychotic nature of the human condition, the deranged state of mind our society currently is in.

Looking for quick validation by our peers, no regard for others be they animal or fellow humans:
A baby dolphin, used as a photo prop, handed around like it was a plushie even after it had already died, later it was dumped on the very same beach where it had been plucked from the waters, like some piece of cardboard cutout, or worse, garbage.
Why?
No, no one wanted the meat or fat, no one took the skin or bones.
No.
Just pictures.
Pictures no one will care for two weeks later, with or without the media outcry.
Quick likes by peers for validation of the self centered, egotistical and, yes, heavily narcissistic selfie-asshats that pollute the finite storage capacity of the net with their garbage pictures of always the same faces grinning into the camera, with but one desire behind the images – to garner attention.

No one is making these to show where they are, to show what incredible thing they do/did, to demonstrate something.
No.
They all just want attention.
All of the time.
Likes and compliments, keep them coming to these attention whores, the whole lot of them.
And that is a testament to our society as a whole.

Idiots protesting or rioting against people who have had to leave everything, sometimes everyone (for dead) behind, just to save their lives; congratulating themselves on the successful riots/protests, videotaping or photographing their deeds, putting them online, yelling (semi-)racist things, feeling strong in the masses because the impact and general success they have as an individual is negligible beyond worth mentioning in their own resumé, which could be summarised as a blank page of failure – why they do it?
Validation.
Again, they get selfworth out of this. They get likes, they get attention, even if it is negative attention, they at least get some. And there are enough of their own breed to give them positive attention.
This list could be continued to include science deniers and other rebels against the “mainstream” (which doesn’t really exist,  come to think of it), all in the effort to get selfworth, to push narcissists and to get attention for either themselves or their goals, and validation of values.

Again, how could I as a writer take this and mold it into a story that would be better (on a metaphorical level) than the news story about the dead dolphin, and the selfabsorbed selfie people?

I couldn’t, even if I have tentacle monsters from the deep abduct and drown a little kid for entertainment purposes only, having the twist at the end that the tentacle creatures are humans.
It can be seen as a metaphor for anything ‘refugee-crisis’ (sic!) related, as no one truly seems to care for the refugees and what drove them to become refugees, only their own (political/personal/economic) agenda is being driven onward, with the refugee situation being just a front.
Again, someone in need/plight is picked up, handed around like a prop, everyone “takes pictures”* (sometimes flattering, sometimes not so much), until the ‘prop’ is thrown away. Discarded like garbage, treated worse, possibly dead.

*- “takes pictures” is a metaphor for anything and everything related to the refugees here. Whether it is PRO or CONTRA doesn’t matter. Pictures, videos, figments or articles – all sides do their own, and just USE the subject matter.
A few voices call for action to make the refugees’ home land(s) safe again, but that are just a few. There surely were a few people on that beach yelling for the baby dolphin to be returned to the sea before it dies from heatstroke. Were they heard? Sure. Were they heeded? It’s dead. From heatstroke. You decide…but the answer is no.

All advances we have made as a society to overcome these inhumane practices (including, but not restricted to: xenophobia, generalising, treating helpless animals like toys, ignoring/negating people’s needs and plights, ignoring/dismissing scientific truth, ignoring evidence and truths, etc.), to reach an age in which we can share information at the speed of light, where one can learn new and wondrous things at every hour, around the clock, seven days a weeks, in every room of the house, with a device in hand that is smaller than a palm. Living in a society that has a hralth and education systems our grandparents would envy us for, having achieved a level of tolerance with people of “other races” (imo there’s no such tbing, but that’s moot here), religions and ethnicities unthinkable just a hundred years, or even fifty years agao. All these advances are being ignored, or twisted into their demonic counterparts from planet dungball.

Makes one question how to continue writing in a meaningful way, and what distorted ugly visage I as a writer would have to portray, to make it accurate enough to be recognised, yet obsucre enough to fit my narrative needs, without turning my innocent stories into snuff.

Still, I will not quit writing, you won’t get rid of me this easy. I just needed to vent…

Until next time, take care,
A.

Random Rant 11.Dec 2014

In advance dear readers, I have to apologise for any harsh language in this post. I’m angry.
Sorry.

Well, I got a call from my wife.

We seem to have forgotten to pay the Dog-Tax on time, and they had sent us one of their minions to collect the tax.

Listen here you numbskulls, you send a letter with an invoice, we forget to pay.
Okay.
That’s bad behaviour on our part, but after that, you send another letter. That’s how everything in this world runs.
It’s called “a reminder”. Usually added with a late fee. Begrudingly I’d even pay that, since we are at fault here.

But you don’t show up with one your cretins on our doorstep! And let us fill out a form whether the dog owner (my wife) is married (a simple check in your database could solve that question without annoying us/her), whether we have a car (again, look up the databases at your disposal. Is there a car registered under the name? Yes? Woooow!!!! Shall I make a LATH post for you?) who pays the rent (why on earth would that concern you? It ain’t your business who is paying the rent!!!) and so on.
Just be glad I wasn’t home during the time of this questioning. I would’Ve given you these exact answers.
“Are you married?” – None of your business. Look it up.
“Do you have a car?” – None of your business. Look it up.
“Who is paying the rent?” – Absolutetly none of your business. Draw a Venn Diagramm of people likely to pay the rent and play the odds.

I despise the ground these tax/fee collecting misfits cast their shadows upon, and I hope a meteor incinerates the ground they walk on.

The real issue I have with the Dog-Tax is not that we have to pay it, but that they demand 82(!!!!) Euro, and STILL they force you to pick up dog poop.
NO!
With that amount of money I’m throwing into the dumpster here I demand you bowlmovements pick up the dog poop yourself. Remember some many decades ago? You justified the taxation of dogs with “we have to pay people who pick up the dog poop”. Good, now pick it up.

82 Euro a year, I expect people in fine suits come and pick it up, not the usual grimey workers, no, suit and tie wearing thieves who otherwise would only gather dust behind a desk and waste organs and oxygen.
Go and pick up dog poop you anal-orifices!

Again, I must ask for your forgiveness dear readers.
I just had to vent this…

Young Adult crap…

…I kow I’m going to make anything but friends with this, but I need to get this out of my system…publicly.

Enough with this “Young Adult” garbage!

Enough with the mostly terrible books, and the almost entirely unstandable film adaptations. Yes, I’m looking at you Twilight crowd, and you Hunger-Games people.

First off, there is NO such thing as a young adult. There are teenagers (Kids basically) and then there are twens (adults). The former are anything BUT adults, and the other are not “young” per se. These movies are made for the tiny margin of people between 18 and 21. Kids who achieved adulthood by not dying, and who aren’t old enough to drink hard liqor in some backwater countries around the globe.

In short, a group of people in desperate need of rolemodels.

I’m all in favor of empowering women, and giving teenagers in general a healthy attitude, but these books and films are (mostly) crap! When I was a kid and a teen and a “young adult”, I was watching MacGyver, Star Trek and James Bond. Those were my rolemodels. Not a teen my age who had more experience than Bond, more brains than MacGyver and Spock combined and more chicks / guys lusting after them than Captain Kirk!

Not only are these characters two dimensional superhero cutouts, empowered with the might and knowledge of an adult writer, in most cases the premise of the scenarios themselves are crap too! Yes. Here comes the Hunger Games Crowd: A society that has the technology and resources to create these idiotic games and setups and surveilance and traps, has the technology/power to FEED FRAKING EVERYONE and have enough for exports! The whole premise is not dystopian but idiotic.

Kids, get GROWN rolemodels. I admit there is a certain lack of adequate female rolemodels out there (at least im comparison with MacGyver, Kirk and Bond), but still, girls, look to WOMEN for guidance, not girls.

You don’t want to be a sixteen year old (that sounds like a fourty something wrote his dialogue) – sixteen is a stupid age. With sixteen you’re full of shit and you have no idea that you are. (If you are in that age range and you disagree, wait ten years and then come talking to me.) As an adult you are full of shit, and you are painfully aware of it. Which makes you a complete person.

If boys wanted to be boys, and girls wanted to be girls, when would they transform into adults? Right, never. At least if they had any say in it. Boys become men, girls become women.
Adjust your rolemodels and ditch the idiotic “Young Adult” concepts.

It is, amongst other things, these crappy “Young Adult” nonsense flicks that distort young people’s view on the world. They feel that they are entitled to stuff. Which they aren’t.

Bring back coming of age flicks, in which a full-of-shit-and-unaware-of-it character slowly realises the ugly truth about him/herself and of the world. Bring (back) adult rolemodels for boys and girls, by showing them men and women who are all they want (and need) to be.

In that respect, take care, especially you young reader, especially you.

Wedding bells…

…well dear audience, I’m writing this in advance, because today is my wedding day!

Today the most wonderful,  beautiful and intelligent woman I can ever hope to meet, will wed way below her level, and become my wife.

So, today there will be no hatred and poison dripping post, no rant about stuff that only kindergarteners and old farts find worth ranting about, no pun ridden blurp that is making you question both my sanity and my IQ.

No.

Today is my wedding day, and today all you got was this post, not even a T-Shirt. 😉 Today there should be ripples of love vibrating through the air, not emissions of anger.

So today, on my wedding day, let me say: Thank you!
Thanks for reading my rants, comedic blurps, and especially thank you for reading my stories.

Hope you have had a nice 4th April 2014!

Take care,
A.
